Vancouver Sea Life and Anime Society

What is VSLA?

Growing up I was always fancinated by the wildlife, especially the ocean world. I wanted to learn as much as I could. My earliest memories were watching national geographic at 5am when I was 5yrs old. Over time, I learned that the ocean is in dire need of our help due to climate change, oil spills, microplastics, you name it. So I decided to create VSLA a Non Porfit Organization. I want to promote the importance of ocean conservation to the world.

Why is it name Vancouver Sea Life and Anime?

Cocoo Island is a small art business that is involved in anime and art conventions. I thought the best place to start for educating everyone about ocean conservation would be around my workplace. The best way to keep me moving forward with VSLA is combing the two things together and start a convetion here in British Columbia to promote the art and anime industry while promoting the importance of saving our ocean.

What does VSLA do?

We're starting small, with garbage clean up on some weekends around the shorelines of our coast. We're also going to be hosting a convention called Umi Con (Umi no Sekai Presents Umi Con) a large portion of the proceeds will be going to the charities around BC that focus on ocean and marine wildlife. Proceedes will also go back to the Umi Con so we can continue this annual event.
